Write Shoot Cut Awards 2013

The Write Shoot Cut Short Film Night started in March 2012. Since then we have screened 60 short films, held countless Q&As and hopefully created connections and inspired others to go out and shoot their own films. We’ve certainly been busy and we thank everyone who has made the effort to attend one of our nights
With this being Oscar season and Write Shoot Cut celebrating a full year of screenings, we have decided to set up an annual Write Shoot Cut Awards.
It’s nothing fancy, no prizes, no money, just the kudos of being the best film Write Shoot Cut has screened that past year.
All the films screened across all our monthly nights (within the calendar year March-February) are eligible for the awards and there is also an opportunity for the Write Shoot Cut network to vote for their favourite.
There are five awards up for grabs:
The Golden Haggis Award: The Palme D’or of Write Shoot Cut awarded to what we believe to be an exceptional short film. All films screened at Write Shoot Cut are eligible for this.
The Silver Haggis Award: The Grand Prix of Write Shoot Cut awarded to what we believe to be an exceptional short film. All films screened at Write Shoot Cut are eligible for this.
The Athens of the North Award: Awarded to a stand out film from Edinburgh. Only films made in Edinburgh or by Edinburgh based filmmakers are eligible for this award.
The Spirit of Write Shoot Cut Award: Awarded to a film we believe encompasses all our values and beliefs when it comes to independent filmmaking.
The Audience Award: Chosen by the Write Shoot Cut Audience.
We have screened a lot of exceptional films and as the night is a curated event, we only screen work that we really connect with so it’s going to be very difficult to decide.
The Winners will be Announced at the Bootleg Film Festival on Sunday 24th March.
